The Social Awareness Team

THE CO-ORDINATOR

• Works with the Team to gather and communicate relevant information to the members
• hosts meetings to encourage effective team-working
• liaises between the National Executive and the Team

THE PARLIAMENTARY OBSERVER

• monitors Parliament, both the U.K. and European, on matters of Catholic, moral and social concerns
• reports back to members via Branch Officers,  the CWL News and the Website
• liaises with other like-minded organisations to share information and keep everyone updated

THE JUSTICE AND PEACE OFFICER

• is the liaison between CWL and the National Justice and Peace Network
• works with Cafod to inform members of the latest campaigns
• highlights particular local issues such as homelessness

THE INTERNATIONAL OFFICER

• liaises with the World Union Of Catholic Women’s Organisation (WUCWO)
• is the CWL Representative on the National Board of Catholic Women’s International Committee
• works on world issues of concern such as Human Trafficking

THE SOCIAL ISSUES OFFICER

• raises awareness of current needs among disadvantaged groups in society
• reports to members on many issues - recently  the League has highlighted problems of prisoners’ families and now focuses on carers and the disabled 

THE HEALTH OFFICER

• keeps members informed about relevant issues in the NHS and the Caring Services
• actively encourages members to promote healthy lifestyles
• is concerned with physical and spiritual wellbeing at all stages of life

RELIEF & REFUGEE OFFICER

• continues the League’s long and proud tradition of help for destitute people coming from abroad
• heads a committee which makes small grants, through registered agencies, to refugees
• liaises between CWL and other Refugee agencies such as the Refugee Council and the Jesuit Refugee Service

THE SERVICES COMMITTEE

• is a special committee of the League liaising with service personnel and their families
• takes CWL’s continued mission of support to the Armed Forces into the 21st century
• offers small grants to service-people in need

OUR LADY’S CATECHISTS

• is a special committee of the League which promotes the Catholic Faith
• it runs courses of Catholic Teaching for children unable to attend a Catholic School and for Catechists and adults wishing to know more about Catholicism
