Members of East Anglia Branch taking ‘time-out’ at the CWL AGM in Sacrborough 2008

Although the Branch was only founded in 1976 when our Diocese was formed from Northampton, we boast the oldest section in the league with Norwich starting in 1912.

Our Members are active in all aspects of parish life as well as supporting refugees, the homeless, Life, Cafod  and many local and CWL charities. A lot of our members support the Catholic Clothing Guild as well as  OLC and Service committees. We have also been able to continue to organise and support the Catechetical camps for Children and young people that were formally part of the CWL but are now run by the Diocese.

We are becoming more involved in our parish communities and  offer support and help to our Priests who are normally running 2 or 3 Masscentres. This can range from social events to organising and supporting  Eucharistic services, thus enabling a worshiping community to gather mid week. From catechesis to cake making our role becomes increasingly needed in our parishes and is much appreciated by our priests.

Over the years we have had  Branch fundraising projects where  we support local and international charities.  We are currently raising funds and awareness for the work of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

We have also been able to continue to organise and support the Catechetical camps for Children and young people that were formally part of the CWL but are now run by the Diocese.

We enjoy getting together in our sections and at Branch activities.  Our recent AGM attracted over 100 members who came to meet our National President who was with us as our very special guest, along with our Bishop, Michael and the Lord Mayor of Norwich.

On June 6th 2009 the Branch joined 1000 other League members to celebrate the National Pilgrimage at Westminster Cathedral. It was a truly wonderful day!

Latest CWL Conference a success
Congratulations on yet another fantastic CWL Conference. The best yet, in my opinion in the 3 years which I have attended.
